Talia on the Shore of the Sea Book Review

Thank you to Joel C. Flanagan-Grannemann for providing me with a copy of this book! I voluntarily leave this review!

Taking place after the events of book one, Talia and her companions seek to build a new life for themselves in exile. They've suffered losses, yet the potential of Talia's pregnancy brings them hope. But they can never let their guard down. Agents from both the human and fae realms would see them destroyed. When the inevitable happens, Talia is set on a destructive path from which she may never be able to return.

Talia on the Shore of the Sea has hints of a Sleeping Beauty retelling, showing what could have driven the dark fairy to set her sleeping curse. Talia's descent is well paced and heartbreaking to witness. After losing so much, the ever growing anger and betrayal are too much for her to handle.

I appreciated how Joel C. Flanagan-Grannemann fades to black in some scenes that may be entirely too triggering. Granted there is still talk of other potential triggers, the reader will not have to witness first hand encounters. And make no mistake, there is still plenty of battle and action readers are exposed to. Showing how far both Talia and her adversaries would go to achieve their goals.

While Talia on the Shore of the Sea starts as a cozy feeling novel, things will quickly escalate. Readers will be swept away by the viciousness of each side and wonder just how far Talia will actually go. This was a much faster paced novel than book one, and I cannot wait to see where the next will lead.
