Stuck at Home Book Tag | Book Talk

Updated: Mar 21, 2021

It took me way too long to do this tag. Thank you Val for tagging me even though I was so late to the game! I promise next time I won't decide to redesign my site in the middle of completing a tag. Check out Val over on Behind That Story for Young Adult, Fantasy and Thriller Book recommendations and reviews!

What are you currently read?

I always have multiple books going at the same time. Currently they are:

What's your favorite 'can't leave the house' activity?

Aside from the obvious one which is reading I would have to say that is video games. What you want me to go to a party? Sorry, too busy taking down an Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter World.

A book you've been meaning to read forever

I'll be honest, this has been on my TBR for so long that I don't even remember what this series is about. I picked up the first book, Cast in Shadow, back in 2011 when I worked at Borders. The only thing I do remember is the main character having powers through the runes on her arms. I would have to go back and read the first book and see if it even interests me anymore.

An intimidating book on your TBR

I tried to read the Lord of the Rings back in high school and did not finish it. But through the years people encouraged me to try The Hobbit because it was a different writing style. I was stubborn and out right refused up until this year when I put it on hold at the Library. I am nervously awaiting my loan to come in and see what my thoughts are. I know Tolkien is huge in the Fantasy community.

Top 3 priority books on my TBR

Recommend a short book

Haze by Rebecca Crunden. She did an amazing job bringing her characters to life and creating an emotional piece of writing. In under 300 words readers will be taken on a journey that tugs at the heart. You can read my review for it here.

Recommend a long book

I don't tend to read long books, but I decided to give Of Myth and Shadow a try when Blackthorn Book Tours invited me to read it. I'm glad I did because it is filled with epic quests and action packed. Sitting at over 1000 pages, make sure you set a decent amount of time aside to dive into this fantastic world. You can read my review for it here.

What do you plan on reading next?

I have over 300 hundred books on my TBR, but I will be continuing my reread of The Hollows series by Kim Harrison with A Perfect Blood so I can work towards reading the new release American Demon.
