Lost Time Book Review

Lost Time will carry on the story of Diego, whose time travel glitched and transported him to the entirely wrong timeline and alternate dimension. And instead of trying to prevent the disasters of his time, he is left trying to save the last remaining survivors of the world.

Diego enters into this storyline with deep-seated emotional turmoil. Even though the people he loved may not be a part of this timeline, he nonetheless feels deeply for them. Trying to balance the guilt of leaving behind his loved ones and losing them within an instant is a struggle he must contend with. Yet, if the events of book one are anything to go by, there is still much in the future for Diego.

Given the alternate timeline, many of the characters readers came to know in book one are not present, or have gained new roles in the story by traveling different paths. In particular, a new pair, Lani and her daughter Shannon, will win the hearts of readers. Lani's complicated past and stalwart attitude will enthrall readers. Not to mention her daughter's teenage wit and hijinks, which are catered to the culture of a futuristic bio dome.

The way D.L. Orton is able to continue main character storylines while twisting them into new times and dimensions is delightful. And with how Lost Time ends, readers will need more answers than they can hope to see in book three. Both questions are left over from book one, and the cast of characters in book one. Readers who enjoy time travel need to pick up this series.
