Every year I set out with reading some book series in mind. Do I always read them? Nope. Do I tend to read a few and then deviate to others? Yup. So I guess it's that time of the year again where I talk about the series I actually read. And I think this year I'm going to pass on proposing any series. I'll just go with the flow and trust the heart of the bookshelf. ;)

So what book series did I finish reading in 2025? Let's take a look!

The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

I found The Naturals when I was browsing Barnes and Noble. And then there it sat on my bookshelf until I decided 2025 was the year. The year I start diving into books just like it, purchased and left to sit without ever being opened. I was hooked immediately on the premises of teenagers naturally able to profile people and crime scenes. Definitely a series for those who enjoy true crime, but don't want something overly gory. If you like Criminal Minds, this is like a teenaged version but so much more.

The Others by Anne Bishop

The Others is a series I started back in 2016 and then never finished. Story of my reading life! In 2025 I decided I was going to go back and finish series that I never did get around to. The world building of The Others is delightful and the edge of darker fantasy is a tantalizing mix with brilliant character development.

The Morganville Vampires by Rachel Caine

Morganville is a series I started back when I worked for Borders Books and Music. (That's a call back isn't it? I still miss those stores and to this day say it is one of the best jobs I ever had.) I remember at the time enjoying the books and then just being distracted by other reads and never circling back. I decided to give the books I had finished a nostalgic reread with the goal to finally finish the whole book series. For this one I have to say without the nostalgia factor I may not have kept going. The romance is very much for YA and overshadows large parts of the plot. There are also quite a few convenient plot armors layered in.

Dr. Greta Helsing by Vivian Shaw

The Dr. Greta Helsing series I discovered thanks to Netgalley! I requested Strange New World (book four), and when I was approved decided I better read the first few books. And once I started I knew I had to keep going. The humor and sarcastic tone are top notch. And the way Greta interacts with her patients, allowing readers to discover more about the beings that inhabit this fictional world is so entertaining.

Green Rider by Kristen Britain

Now this series I haven't finished, but did I take a chunk out of what I've been missing out on. I just finished Winterlight a few days ago and have only one more book to go! Book eight, Falling in a Sea of Stars, just came out in 2025, so I might wait a bit to stretch out how long I have to wait for book nine.

Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr

Now this series started as a mix of a nostalgia read and deciding if I wanted to keep the books. I remembered being on the fence about book two. Reading it I also remained on the edge, as the foundation of the series I loved in book one was so different. Book one showed a female main character who refused to give up on her life for a mystical faerie prince. However, book two descended into a self loathing main character who wasn't likeable. But I kept trying, book three and four I finished, then decided it was time to call it quits and give the books away. Especially when the series turns back to the main character from book one and she's become everything she fought so hard not to be in book one.

Did you finish any book series in 2025?
