Midnight Alley Book Review
Midnight Alley begins to reveal the secrets of Morganville to readers, as well as the inner workings of the vampires. The healthy dose of lore and the lingering what if, will be sure to keep readers engaged. Not to mention the additional threats outside of the vampire kind, giving variety to the danger the characters will face.
Though Claire is developing as a character and beginning to stand her ground, there are elements of character relationships that are red flags. Certain behaviors are waved away, or encouraged, and as an adult, they are concerning. But to a teen reading this, they could be perceived as exciting or thrilling.
Plot and story wise, Midnight Alley is fast-paced and keeps the reader guessing. It also brings into play alchemy, adding another supernatural element to the world. And while it ends on a cliffhanger, the next one is sure to pick right up where it left off.
Fans of vampires and young adult novels will enjoy Midnight Alley. Just note it is definitely young adult in the character interactions and decisions. But the allure of the vampires and their end goals will keep me reading.
