Faithbreaker Book Review
Driven by pain and the need to inflict it on others, Hseth marches to war alongside her followers. Old foes and unlikely allies will need to work together to stop the destruction wrought by the fire God. Elo, Innara, Skediceth, and Kissen will each have their part to play in the world's destruction or salvation. Each must be willing to make sacrifices, no matter the cost.
Hannah Kaner is a master at complex character relationships. While there are no safe paths left for the characters, there are also no easy answers or alliances to be found. Old wounds will have to be exposed in order for them to move forward. Risks will be taken and the results will not always be worth it. When facing a mad God, there is no other choice than to lose.
My favorite character pair will always be Innara and Skediceth. They've both learned and grown so much from each other. They conquered deception, and tests of loyalty, among other challenges in their previous journeys. Seeing them at their peak and giving their all to find new solutions and still remaining so dedicated to one another is heartwarming.
The inclusion of the Gods and the wealth of lore this trilogy has spun together is both fascinating and terrifying. Readers will see devotion to a God bring love and peace, yet also terror and heartache. This grimdark series is not one to be missed.
Faithbreaker will bring the trilogy full circle and close out the tales of each character. Tension, action, sorrow, joy; readers will experience it all in this final novel. Hannah Kaner is an author that is now a must read for me.
