Marin has always been in love with the sea. When her toxic relationship ends, she sets sail and becomes a supply runner. With her enchanted ship, she is able to store a large amount of cargo and travels from place to place. But there is a time limit looming above her head, as she needs to pay off the loan her parents made to enchant her ship, or else they lose everything.
Many of Marin’s actions are the result of her past relationship, and she will have internal conflicts learning to trust again. And even with her assembled crew she finds along the way, her journey will be a frustrating one as miscommunications and assumptions plague her. The slightest misgiving will cause Marin to leap to conclusions, and readers will need to stay with her throughout the end to find how and if she works through them all.
But this isn’t just a story of Marin’s healing. Sea of Charms also ties together events from the first and second book, while also giving readers a brand new adventure. Given the nature of Marin’s business, she does travel back and forth quite often, but there is always a story rich with imagination and intrigue. There are intense moments in this novel, as a revolution takes place within one of the cities Marin travels to, but there are still plenty of cozy undertones for those who enjoyed the first two novels.
And for those who enjoy a bit of romance, there is a slow-burn one waiting for you in the novel. Just give Marin a chance, as she needs to realize her own feelings and come to terms with them first. And there are also adorable moments that will make you laugh. Sea of Charms is for fans of cozy fantasy with a bit of predictability and a lot of heart.
