Shadowhunter Book Cakes | Book Talk

Updated: Apr 11, 2021

Hello, my fellow bookworms! I felt it was past time I wrote my second installment in the Book Cake blog posts! I love watching baking show competitions and seeing all the crazy and creative ways people decorate their cakes. It never ceases to amaze me the level of detail that can be put onto a cake! I am also madly in love with The Mortal Instruments series and currently in the middle of a reread. I thought hey! I bet there are cakes that are Shadowhunter themed. Here are some of my favorites that I found!

The best place to start is with The Shadowhunters Codex! This beautiful and realistic looking cake was made by Snazzy Cakes. I don't know if I could bring myself to cut this! The piping on the sides to make it look like there are worn individual pages is so detailed. Can you imagine trying to make a cake like this? Talk about talent! You can check out other cool cakes they made here.

Now this one isn’t exactly The Mortal Instruments, but I couldn’t pass up adding it to this list. Fans of Cassandra Clare will recognize the clockwork angel sitting on top of this cake as being from The Infernal Devices. While these weren't my favorite story additions to the Shadowhunter world, this cake is absolutely a sight to see!

This was created by Imaginarium Cakes. I am sad to say that according to the bakery's Facebook page that they are no longer open. :( However, if you still want to check out their past cakes you can here.

The final cake in this blog post brings us back to The Mortal Instruments. This one has the classic ruins and even the mortal cup on top! Whenever I see cakes with so much detail I really wonder how many hours went into creating it. I certainly would not have the patience to put all those runes on the cake and instruments.

Which city do you think is depicted on the bottom tier. New York or Idris? Either way, I love the fact that there are stars in the sky. This cake was created by Mile Bian, you can see more of her cakes here.

I hope you enjoyed looking at these Shadowhunter themed book cakes! If you have friends or family that have created book cakes please let me know! I will feature them in a future book cake blog post!
